Elementary - English

Elementary /  English

Elementary ELA is targeted to upper-level elementary students (grades 3-5) with additional content for 1st and 2nd graders. The course focuses on:

  • reading skills such as main idea, inferences, vocabulary in context, and basic literary terms
  • listening skills
  • short and full-length selections for reading comprehension
  • writing skills: grammar, spelling, punctuation and editing
  • building vocabulary
  • literature and non-fiction sets (see “Literature Sets” below)
  • audio spelling and vowel sounds are also appropriate for 1st and 2nd graders

Grouping together grade levels allows teachers to provide differentiated instruction within the same course
