2018-2019 IHM Math Contest


Welcome. Here You’ll find information about the contest, how to login to your IHM contestant account, and how to access the test.


The IHM Math Contest evaluates students’ understanding of complex mathematics concepts and is considered to be one of the most rigorous math exams in the country. It is sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a religious community serving primarily in education ministry.




IHM Test Dates


  • Practice Test: January 15th, 2019 to February 15th, 2019
  • Preliminary Test: February 20th, 2019 or February 21st, 2019
  • Make-up Test: February 25th, 2019
  • Final Part 1: April 9th, 2019
  • Final Part 2: April 10th, 2019
  • Final Make-up Days: April 11th, 2019 & April 12th, 2019

General Information
Teacher FAQs

Q: Can the students use tablets to access the test?

A: Yes! The students may use computers or any mobile devices to complete the test.


Q: May the students use a calculator?

A: No calculator may be used on the preliminary test. Students participating in the final round may use a calculator.


Q: Will there be paper copies of the test?

A: No. All participants will take the test on-line.


Q: Will the teachers be able to see test results?

A: Yes! Teachers can access the test results for their students as soon as the student completes the test. Castle Learning will also provide class analysis data.


Q: Is the test timed?

A: Yes. The test will remain as a timed 60 minute test. Once the test has been started, the student must complete the test in that sitting. The teacher is responsible for timing the test.


Q: Are there any accommodations for students with special needs?

A: Yes! Students can click to have the test read to them. There is a highlighting feature as well.


Q: If one of my students is sick on the test date, will s/he will able to take the test on an alternate date.

A: Yes! The test will be locked out after your school takes the test. If a student is absent, email ihmmathcontest@gmail.com with the absent student(s) name(s). The test will be unlocked for your student(s) for the make-up test dates.


Q: Will teachers have access to the test prior to the test dates?

A: No. The test will be unlocked on the test date. Once the test has been started it needs to be finished in the allotted time period.
