While Americans were deep in the Great Depression, tensions were rising between European nations. As Hitler worked to expand his German empire, the United States was focused on rebuilding our economy and avoiding war. In December of 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, spurring the United States to enter World War II as a member of the Allied forces.
