Renaissance & Reformation (1300-1650)

Elementary  /  Social Studies /  Renaissance & Reformation (1300-1650)

As change continued across Europe, the medieval period gave way to a period of creativity and learning called the Renaissance. The Renaissance period was caused by several factors, including: increased trade with Asia; new interest in classical learning of ancient Greece and Rome; and an increased desire to understand science. During the Renaissance people developed new ideas about religion. These new ideas, combined with negativity toward the Catholic Church, helped to spark the Reformation of the Church.
