The First People (Prehistory-3500 B.C.)

Elementary  /  Social Studies /  The First People (Prehistory-3500 B.C.)

In 250,000 B.C. the Homo sapiens (human) species emerged. For hundreds of thousands of years the human population survived in a rather harsh environment by gathering food and supplies however they could. Gradually humans began to develop and refine agricultural systems for growing food. As the food supply increased so did the population. As the population grew cities, governments, and writing/art developed, giving rise to early civilization. Early civilizations began in Western Asia, Egypt, India, and China.
